Social gossip, home hints, dress patterns, short stories, recipes and competitions were the foundations for this popular women's weekly.

In the late 1920s, Home Chat carried a colour plate of Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh, by Ernest H. Shepard as free gifts in six of its issues.
